Redesigning and optimizing the website for the Hope In Life Foundation, a global organization that advocates for women and girls in India and Nepal.

For my global non-profit organization project, I chose to work closely with a foundation called Hope In Life Foundation. This foundation supports educating women and children in India and Nepal about domestic violence and sexual assault. This project required me to rebuild and redesign their WordPress website to attract more visitors and volunteers to their foundation. One the project needs required me to include better design elements on the foundation’s website. When I first looked at the old Hope In Life Foundation website, I was overwhelmed by the look of it. Certain website sections such as the Executive Board members’ biographies and Projects section had too much or too little information. It was also very challenging to find specific information about the foundation. For example, I did not understand how their foundation started or why their cause was significant. Viewing their website on my phone was not functional either. I addressed these problems in my project by creating a streamlined, one-page website. For this, I made a sticky header menu bar on the top of the website once a person scrolls down. That way, people can click on a particular menu bar option that directs them to a distinct part of their website. I included my research about domestic violence against Asian American Pacific Islanders. That way, people are aware of why this cause is relevant. I also made a color theme following the foundation’s logo to make their website pop out. I also tested the website on the mobile view to see if it was accessible on there. My biggest takeaway from this project is to keep on working at something, even if some minor setbacks are standing in your way. I had some difficulties putting the website on WordPress but did not get discouraged. Instead, I addressed this issue and worked it out with my clients. This project has enhanced my UB experience because I feel more confident when communicating with others, especially in a higher position. I now understand how I can be a leading role in making a change in the world, no matter how small a project can be.
